Big day for the Ross family! ⁣

After homeschooling since they were toddlers these two are having a first day of school outside our home. 🥹⁣
⁣
We’ve taken it one year at a time and every year we assess whether homeschooling is still the best option. So far it has been. ⁣
⁣
But as we were planning for this year the kids showed interest in trying something new (each for different reasons) and so while I still believe homeschooling to be the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 option for education, we felt peace about trying something different this year. ⁣
⁣
I’m actually very excited to see how God is going to use this new experience to grow their character. ⁣
⁣
But I’m also really going to miss having them at home, cause I like them so much. ❤️⁣
⁣
Here’s to trying new things!

Our time in Italy is coming to an end but it’s been the most beautiful 10 days. I’m leaving with a full heart and a renewed sense of purpose in ministry. Also new brothers and sisters in the faith ❤️⁣

God is so good! And the global church is amazing. There’s so much to say but also so much I’m still processing. It’s been an honor to serve the kingdom in this part of the world and I got to do it with the best team. @crt052 @martinaattherock @drisdelletim @juliensaquing @therockchurchitaly @vivianevelynannable plus the Amazing Vince Costa and Betty!

Florence is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever been around so much beautiful art. Like it’s beautiful 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚! ⁣

Some highlights so far:⁣
The food! 🍧 gelato 🍕 pizza 🍝 pasta ⁣
🖼️ the museums- The Accademia Galleria (the David!) and the Uffizi (the 7 Virtues are my favorite, especially Fortitude by Botticelli)⁣

One of the reasons we homeschool is so we can make

One of the reasons we homeschool is so we can make memories and go on adventures together. ⁣
⁣
Another reason is because we believe education should include the pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty. We’re on a family trip to Europe where we wanted to experience beautiful places together. ⁣
⁣
Our first stop was a short time in Barcelona and La Sagrada Familia did not disappoint. ⁣
⁣

Well 2022 is coming to a close and this year has b

Well 2022 is coming to a close and this year has been a lot. I haven't been on social media much because of my ongoing love/hate relationship with it but I may start showing up a bit more in the new year, who knows. ⁣
⁣
Anyway I shared in a lighthearted way about choosing my word for 2022, 𝗛𝗢𝗣𝗘 but honestly it started off really hard. To be honest, the first part of the year I really struggled. I hated being here. I thought the Bay Area was hopeless. ⁣
⁣
I thought during Covid that maybe like so many other people, we'd move and I got distracted by "the grass is greener" syndrome. Also, I was SO lonely. Good friends had moved, other friends had grown distant and I was struggling to find my people. I was depressed. In the spring I started seeing a counselor and that has helped a lot. ⁣
⁣
But I also prayed a lot. I prayed that if my circumstances would not change that God would change my perspective. And looking back, God answered that prayer miraculously. ⁣
⁣
My heart has so fully changed that I can't explain it except to say it was God. He literally transforms people, I 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 this to be true. ⁣
⁣
• I have made some new good friends and reconnected with old ones⁣
• I love all of the people I work with at my amazing church⁣ and our community
• My kids have also made good friends⁣
• I have been SO encouraged by what God is doing right here in the Bay Area that now, I look forward to being a part of it. ⁣
⁣
Like, Paul I'm learning the secret to being content in all circumstances. (Phil 4:12)⁣
⁣
I started 2022 desperately in need of HOPE. And I am closing out the year more Hope-Full than I have felt in a long time. ⁣
⁣
Right now it's gray and cold and raining outside but there isn't any other place I would rather be. 💗⁣

And just like that my “baby” is officially a teenager. And I couldn’t be more grateful for this kid. Jake is the perfect combination of funny and thoughtful with just the right amount of spice. He’s a good friend and brother and I’m just so happy to celebrate the young man he is becoming. 🥳

It’s infusion day and I don’t normally like to talk about living with RA/ chronic pain because who likes to talk to talk about pain? 😕⁣

About Jesus healing the leper who asked if He was willing, to make him clean. And I know many of us as still waiting on Jesus to be healed, it’s not that He can’t or isn’t willing necessary but just 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝙮𝙚𝙩. ⁣

Sometimes we get accused of not being healed because we don’t have enough faith and that’s wrong. I have complete faith that if God wanted me healed, He would do it. So if He hasn’t, it’s for a reason. I just don’t know what it is. And I’m at a place where I’m OK with that because He is God and I am not. ⁣
⁣
Pain sucks. But I’ve also learned a lot about compassion, empathy, patience and dependence on God in the waiting. And for that I am grateful. ⁣

Back to homeschool post as this was our first most

Back to homeschool post as this was our first mostly full week. E is officially in high school (what?!?!) and J is a 7th grader, and I 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 we've been doing this homeschool thing for over 10 years now. 🤯⁣
⁣
Honestly we really do take it one year at a time and considered doing something different this year but after a lot of prayer and thinking about what's best for our family we just didn't find any options that we like 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 than what we've been doing. Although this year looks a bit different, I'm not quite as hands on with the kids in some ways as they are doing more online classes and they're just more independent. But in other ways I’m still going deep with the subjects I love and pursuing truth, goodness and beauty in education. ⁣
⁣
I don't know if we'll homeschool the whole way through, maybe at some point we won't but for now I am savoring every minute I can, learning and growing with these two (mostly) amazing human beings. 🏠👩🏻‍🏫📚❤️⁣
